Aya Community Markets, is a farmers market and holistic health experience. With Aya, we are re-imagining the farmers market experience, while working with “food desert” and “low-access” communities to help provide fresh produce, generate sustainable employment, and open gateways to community health resources that residents need to get healthy and stay healthy.
Aya Community Markets is more than just a farmers market. We strive to build a bustling atmosphere full of life, from live music, poetry, and more. Our goal is to build the most unique farmers market experience in the City, providing places for businesses to develop, a place for the community to gather in fellowship and purchase quality goods.

Why Aya?
We believe that all communities deserve equal access to healthy food choices. Many communities in Washington, D.C. are isolated in “food deserts” or “low-access” areas where healthy options aren’t available because grocery stores are too far away, there are no farmers markets and fast-food stores dominate the landscape.
It has been well documented that lack of access to affordable fresh produce leads to high incedences of negative community health impacts such as obesity, diabetes, and myriad other social ills. Our market helps to combat “food deserts,” close the “grocery gap” and improve community health through a comprehensive and innovative approach.
