Project Dream Green

About Project Dream Green

In collaboration with our partner, Groundwork Anacostia River DC, we bring together youth from across DC for a comprehensive environmental learning and work experience. Using the environment as the linchpin, Project Dream Green provides a unique experience that explores self-discovery, the “greening” of our economy and lifestyles through a holistic approach.

Youth ages 14-21 are engaged in projects such as energy efficiency outreach; career exposure; field work in National Parks, watershed protection and tree-care. Partnerships with the District Department of the Environment, the National Parks Service-National Capitol Parks East and local charter schools have made this an extraordinary program. Central to this project’s success is connecting curriculum, community, and the environment in meaningful ways and the reinforcement of our Ethics Mirror.

The Green Teams

Participants develop strong character, sharpen leadership and technical skills while positively impacting critical environmental needs surrounding the District’s trees, parks, energy, and watersheds. In addition, our Green Team members document their experience through various forms of media; actively use and learn using technology; and advance their academic skills.  We accomplish this through:

  • Field Trips
  • Video, photography and other media projects
  • Career Exposure through various speakers and presenters
  • Use of text-messaging technology to send vocabulary words
